Budget 2026 introduces Bharat Vistaar to deliver AI-driven farm advice

Signalling a stronger push toward technology-led agriculture, the Union Budget 2026 unveiled a new digital initiative aimed at taking scientific knowledge directly to farmers across the country. The platform is designed to bridge information gaps at the grassroots level.

During her Budget 2026 speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the launch of Bharat Vistaar, a multilingual, AI-powered tool focused on improving last-mile delivery of agricultural knowledge to Indian farmers.

The platform will integrate the government’s Agri Stack portal with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s package of practices. Through a single interface, farmers will receive region-specific advisories in multiple Indian languages, making verified agricultural guidance easier to access and understand.

Bharat Vistaar will use artificial intelligence to contextualise crop, soil, weather, and farm-practice data. According to the announcement, this approach will help convert scientific inputs into practical, farm-ready insights. By combining digital farmer records available through Agri Stack with ICAR’s research-backed recommendations, the platform aims to support informed decision-making at the farm level.

The tool is expected to improve the adoption of best practices across different agro-climatic zones in India. With tailored guidance and verified advisories, Bharat Vistaar is designed to help farmers increase productivity while reducing operational and climate-related risks.

The platform’s broader objective is to empower farmers with technology that communicates in their preferred language and aligns with local conditions. By simplifying access to trusted agricultural data and recommendations, Bharat Vistaar seeks to strengthen decision support for millions of farmers and promote more resilient and efficient farming practices.
