BSNL Soft Launches SIM-less Indigenous ‘Quantum 5G FWA’ Service in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, India – Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has marked a significant milestone in India’s telecommunications landscape with the soft launch of its groundbreaking, SIM-less indigenous 5G service, dubbed ‘Quantum 5G FWA’ (Fixed Wireless Access). The pioneering service has been unveiled in Hyderabad, with the initial rollout commencing at the Ameerpet exchange.

This innovative offering is designed to deliver secure and reliable internet connectivity to a diverse range of users, including enterprises, businesses, gated communities, and individual homes. A key highlight of the ‘Quantum 5G FWA’ is its foundation on 5G technology developed entirely in collaboration with indigenous partners, aligning with the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) program.

Chairman and managing director A. Robert J. Ravi announced that the SIM-less BSNL Q-5G (FWA) services aim to deliver 100% secure and reliable internet connectivity to enterprises, businesses, gated communities, and individual homes, utilizing ‘home grown’ 5G technology developed in partnership with local collaborators.

Speaking to customers and staff, he mentioned that this service is being introduced for the first time in the country at the Ameerpet exchange. “Hyderabad’s tech-savvy ecosystem makes it the perfect launch-pad for our next-generation access portfolio. It has beenbuilt on BSNL’s direct-to-device platform, fully indigenous stack core with design and integration by Indian vendors under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ programme,” he said.

With Gigabit-class speeds, it is perfect for UHD (ultra high definition) streaming, cloud gaming, and remote work; the rapid self-install gateway can reach 85% of households in Hyderabad under the existing BSNL tower grid without the need for trenching or fiber installation.

The SIM-less BSNL Q-5G (FWA) service represents a first-of-its-kind launch in the country, leveraging BSNL’s direct-to-device platform. Its design and integration have been meticulously handled by Indian vendors, underscoring a commitment to local innovation and technological self-sufficiency. This move is expected to bolster India’s digital infrastructure and provide advanced connectivity solutions across various segments.
