In a move aimed at strengthening the reliability of its telecom network, a state-run operator has placed a major order to upgrade its power and energy storage systems nationwide.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has awarded a ₹94.35 crore project to Lineage Power Private Limited, a subsidiary of Pace Digitek Limited. The contract focuses on enhancing power infrastructure across BSNL’s network in India.
Under the order, Lineage Power will supply 25,000 lithium-ion battery modules rated at 100 AH/48V. In addition, the company will deliver 2,500 IP55-rated equipment racks designed for both outdoor and indoor use. These systems will be configured into battery banks with capacities ranging from 300 AH to 1,200 AH, based on the operational needs of different telecom sites and environmental conditions.
The project includes a comprehensive 5-year warranty, followed by a 5-year Annual Maintenance Contract. Together, these provisions are intended to ensure uninterrupted operations and the smooth functioning of BSNL’s critical power infrastructure over a 10-year period.
As per government-mandated requirements, all Battery Management Systems supplied under this order must be registered on the Trusted Telecom Portal. The policy is aimed at safeguarding critical telecom infrastructure and ensuring that national communication networks remain secure against potential cyber threats.
In line with these measures, the government has already removed Chinese vendors from the telecom network to reduce security risks. Officials have emphasised that approvals through the Trusted Telecom Portal are essential to protect India’s power grids and communication systems.
The execution of the order will take place in a phased manner over a period of 5 months. Lineage Power will roll out the equipment gradually across BSNL sites to meet deployment and integration timelines.
The contract marks a significant step for both companies, reinforcing BSNL’s focus on network resilience and highlighting Pace Digitek’s growing role in supporting large-scale telecom infrastructure projects in the country.
