BRINC launches Guardian, a next-gen 911 drone with autonomous operations and satellite connectivity

In a significant step for public safety technology, BRINC has introduced Guardian, a next-generation drone designed to enhance 911 emergency response capabilities.

The company describes Guardian as the most advanced 911 response drone to date. It stands out as the world’s first drone connected via Starlink, enabling reliable communication even in areas without traditional network coverage.

Guardian works with its robotic charging system, Guardian Station, which allows automatic battery swapping and quick redeployment. This removes the need for the usual 25-minute charging time required by current Drone as First Responder (DFR) systems. The drone can also automatically equip the required payload, such as defibrillators, flotation devices, and Narcan, based on the type of emergency. Together, the system ensures 24/7 readiness without human involvement.

Commenting on the launch, Blake Resnick said, “Drone as First Responder operations have been limited by camera capabilities, connectivity and contact charging. Guardian changes the paradigm, supporting true 24/7 operations and enabling advanced operations like vehicle pursuits. This is the drone I’ve wanted to build for a decade, and I’m proud of the entire BRINC team for materializing it.”

Guardian is built for long-range and high-performance operations. It can respond to emergencies up to 8 miles away, compared to the typical 3-mile limit of existing systems. It offers 62 minutes of flight time, IP55 weather resistance, and an integrated Starlink panel that ensures connectivity almost anywhere.

The drone also introduces advanced imaging features, including 4K video and 640x zoom, allowing visibility from over 1,000 feet. It is equipped with dual HD thermal zoom cameras, a 1,000-lumen spotlight, a laser rangefinder, and a speaker and siren that is 3x louder than a police car. These features improve coordination and provide clear visuals in both day and night conditions.

Guardian is designed to fit into existing public safety systems, helping agencies deploy aerial intelligence quickly and efficiently.
