Bosch, a global technology company, has significantly expanded its presence in India’s home appliances sector by acquiring a 74.2 per cent stake in Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India (JCHAI). This move is part of a larger global deal valued at 8 billion dollars and marks Bosch’s entry into the competitive Indian air conditioning market.
With this acquisition, Bosch now becomes a full-range player in the Indian consumer appliance space, adding air conditioning products to its existing portfolio of premium home solutions. The company aims to capitalise on the increasing demand for ACs in India and strengthen its foothold in the growing market.
This development is not limited to India. Bosch has also acquired residential and light commercial HVAC operations from its joint venture in the United Kingdom. The acquisition gives Bosch full control over the venture and the associated brands, expanding its reach in international markets.
As a result of this global integration, Bosch’s Home Comfort division is expected to almost double in capacity. The annual sales of the division are projected to rise from approximately 5 billion euros to nearly 9 billion euros. The employee base will also expand significantly, supporting the company’s goal to lead in the HVAC segment.
Commenting on the acquisition, the chairman of the board of management said, “Biggest acquisition in our history and a major milestone in our corporate strategy for 2030.” The company has set its sights on growing its heating and cooling portfolio, strengthening its presence across Asia and America, and driving innovation in energy-efficient climate control technologies for homes.
This strategic investment highlights Bosch’s commitment to becoming a global leader in sustainable and efficient heating and air conditioning solutions.
