BonV Aero expands drone footprint with new UAV hub in Odisha

In a significant step towards strengthening India’s drone manufacturing ecosystem, BonV Aero has started construction of a ₹300 crore unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) facility in Khordha, Odisha.

The upcoming facility will span 2.5 acres and is designed as an integrated UAV hub. It will include drone assembly lines, a Drone Centre of Excellence (CoE), and an industrial skilling centre. The project also plans to feature Odisha’s first drone park for testing, along with an experience centre and a Remote Pilot Training Organisation to train certified drone operators.

This development aims to boost domestic drone production and support aerospace innovation in the region. The facility is expected to play a key role in building capabilities across manufacturing, testing, and workforce training within the drone sector.

Satapathy highlighted that Odisha’s supportive policy environment has helped attract such investments. Initiatives like the Aerospace and Defence Manufacturing Policy 4.0, the B-MAAN scheme for drone and e-VTOL development, and the ₹17,250 crore defence and aerospace manufacturing hub in Dhenkanal have made the state a strong destination for deep-tech projects.

The new project adds to BonV Aero’s existing investments in Odisha, including plans to develop a UAV corridor at Rangeilunda. This expansion reflects the company’s growing focus on scaling its presence in India’s drone manufacturing space.
