Bhopal: On Monday, the Cyber-crime Branch of Bhopal announced the arrest of Syed Parvez Hashmi, a mastermind behind a cyber-fraud scheme who had been on the run for four years and was wanted with a reward of Rs 10,000. He was apprehended in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, in relation to a significant scam where victims were misled into believing their credit cards needed to be blocked.
The Cyber-crime team conducted a focused investigation, resulting in the seizure of three mobile phones, four SIM cards, one ATM card, and a Wi-Fi router during the arrest.
Syed Parvez Hashmi has completed his education up to the 12th grade and operated a fraudulent call center, tricking individuals into thinking he was assisting them with credit card issues. Other individuals previously arrested in connection with this case include Zakir Hussain and Anuj Kumar, both from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, who provided their bank accounts for the scam.
Authorities urge anyone who suspects they have been a victim of cybercrime to report it immediately to the Bhopal Cyber-crime Helpdesk at 9479990636 or the National Cyber Helpline Number 1930.
