Bharosa AI’s Voice-Based ‘Mira’ Poised to Revolutionize Healthcare in Tier II & III India

Gurugram-based healthtech startup Bharosa AI has launched ‘Mira’, a groundbreaking multilingual voice-based AI assistant. Designed to operate over simple phone calls, Mira aims to be a game-changer for patients and medical professionals, particularly in India’s underserved Tier II and III cities, by bridging critical communication gaps and streamlining healthcare journeys.

Founded in 2023 by Vandit Jain, Dr. Amit Gupta, and Nidhi Bharani, Bharosa AI was born out of a personal struggle with healthcare communication. The founders identified a pervasive disconnect in India’s healthcare sector: patients, especially those in rural areas, often struggle to articulate symptoms effectively, while doctors are burdened with administrative tasks and high patient volumes, leading to miscommunication and suboptimal care.

“It’s difficult, if not impossible, for patients who are not equipped with enough knowledge in medical science to explain their ailments with clarity,” noted Vandit Jain, Co-founder and CEO of Bharosa AI.

Mira, the company’s AI-powered health assistant, is designed to simplify the healthcare journey for both patients and doctors. Unlike traditional app-based models, Mira operates seamlessly over standard phone calls, eliminating the need for digital literacy or smartphone ownership – a critical advantage in regions with lower tech adoption. It supports over 100 languages and dialects, ensuring that patients can communicate in their preferred native tongue.

The core of Mira’s advanced capabilities lies in its unique integration of OpenAI’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) in a real-world healthcare product. This allows Mira to retain patient history, doctor preferences, and clinical logic across calls, enabling context-aware and intelligent interactions that feel more human than a typical chatbot. “Bringing AI to patients through a simple phone call was challenging but necessary. No apps or digital literacy are required,” said Nidhi Bharani, Chief AI Officer, leveraging her expertise in machine learning and voice AI.

For patients, Mira acts as a reliable medical guide, providing verified health information and intelligently routing queries to the right specialists based on their symptoms. This ensures access to trustworthy information without requiring physical presence or complex digital navigation.

For doctors, Mira significantly streamlines outpatient workflows and reduces administrative burden. The AI assistant qualifies patient queries, provides doctors with structured transcripts and summaries of patient interactions before consultations, and even assists with note-taking and post-consultation follow-ups. “Doctors in my network are eager to try Mira. The system is tough on them, and they need support,” shared Dr. Amit Gupta, Chief Medical Officer, highlighting the pressing need for such solutions.
