BharathCloud and Smartail AI to deploy AI tools across Indian classrooms

In a move aimed at modernising academic workflows, BharathCloud and Smartail AI are rolling out artificial intelligence tools across more than 3,000 schools and universities in India by the end of this year.

The initiative focuses on making grading, question paper creation, and answer evaluation faster, smarter, and more secure. The tools are designed to meet the specific needs of each institution while reducing the manual workload for teachers. Smartail AI said its technology is built to help educators achieve more with less effort.

At the core of this rollout is Smartail’s DeepGrade system, powered by BharathCloud. The platform can grade millions of marks every month with 97% accuracy. It is capable of generating hundreds of question papers for different education boards, including CBSE and ICSE, with a noticeable performance boost. The system also evaluates more than 100,000 handwritten answers every day and provides teachers with real-time insights using AI.

The collaboration is expected to improve turnaround time for student feedback while allowing teachers to spend less time on repetitive administrative tasks and more time on teaching.

Beyond software deployment, BharathCloud has announced plans to invest up to $100 million, although a timeline was not specified. The company plans to set up AI-ready cloud centres in metro cities and expand operations into Tier-II and Tier-III locations. This expansion aims to ensure that smaller cities and towns also gain access to advanced AI-driven education tools.

The rollout marks a significant step towards building smarter, more efficient classrooms across India, with a focus on scale, accuracy, and accessibility.
