Bharat Forge’s aerospace division has inaugurated a landing gear components machining facility in Pune in collaboration with France-based Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS, marking a significant step in India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities.
With this development, Bharat Forge becomes one of the first Indian companies to operate OEM-approved landing gear components machining capabilities, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The newly launched facility features advanced machining centres designed for high-precision landing-gear components used in aerospace systems. However, the company did not disclose the investment size for the project.
Following the announcement, shares of Bharat Forge Ltd. were trading at ₹1835.55 per share, down by ₹7.50, as of 10:28 AM on Wednesday on the BSE.
Bharat Forge now operates a full-stack aerospace manufacturing portfolio, covering aero-engine components, airframe structures and landing-gear sub-systems for both civil and military aviation. The company also manufactures turbine and compressor components, forged rings, shafts and discs, along with structural and landing-gear elements.
In addition, Bharat Forge is developing an advanced aerospace ring mill in India to produce high-value forged rings for aero-engine programmes.
Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman & Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, thanked Liebherr-Aerospace for its trust in the company’s aerospace division.
“This state-of-the art facility planned in partnership with Liebherr-Aerospace is a very significant milestone in the company’s journey in the Aerospace sector and a testament to our ability to add value to the customer relationships…it’s a commitment to scaling up our reach and enhancing value addition across our operations,” he said.
The company noted that the development represents an important step toward strengthening India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and expanding the country’s role in global aerospace supply chains.
Martin Wandel, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS, said the facility has been designed specifically to meet the requirements of the global aerospace industry.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior leaders and dignitaries from Liebherr-Aerospace and Bharat Forge Limited.
