Bank of India (BoI) has appointed Satyendra Singh as Chief General Manager and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), strengthening its senior leadership as the public sector lender sharpens its focus on technology-led transformation. The move underscores the bank’s intent to modernise its IT backbone and accelerate digital initiatives at a time when technology has become central to competitiveness in the banking sector.
In his expanded role, Singh will be responsible for shaping enterprise-wide technology strategy, overseeing core banking systems and strengthening digital capabilities across operations. His mandate includes driving large-scale IT modernisation, improving system resilience and enabling scalable, future-ready platforms that can support the bank’s long-term growth and evolving customer needs.
Singh’s elevation brings continuity as well as a broader strategic remit, having earlier served as General Manager (IT) and CTO. Under his leadership, Bank of India is expected to deepen its adoption of emerging technologies such as data analytics, automation and artificial intelligence, while modernising digital channels including mobile and internet banking, payments infrastructure and API frameworks to improve efficiency and customer experience.
The appointment comes amid a wider push by public sector banks to embed technology at the core of business strategy, following rapid digitisation across the industry in recent years. As CTO, Singh will play a key role in strengthening cybersecurity, integrating new technologies and aligning IT investments with business priorities, positioning Bank of India to remain agile and competitive in an increasingly digital banking landscape.
