In response to rising concerns around digital banking safety, a major private sector lender has rolled out a new customer-focused security feature.
Axis Bank has launched its ‘Safety Centre’ on its mobile banking app ‘open’, giving customers direct control over key digital banking functions. The new feature allows users to protect their accounts from unauthorized or suspicious activities without calling customer care or visiting a branch.
According to a statement, the Safety Centre lets customers customise security settings based on their usage patterns and comfort levels. The goal is to provide real-time control and improve confidence while using digital banking services.
One of the key features is the SMS Shield, which checks the Sender ID of messages against Axis Bank’s official IDs to verify authenticity. Customers can also completely disable Internet Banking access if it is not required. Another option allows users to instantly block all fund transfer activities across Mobile Banking and Internet Banking using a single toggle.
Additional controls include blocking transactions initiated through third-party apps, such as e-commerce platforms that use Net Banking as a payment option. Customers can also restrict UPI transactions through the bank’s mobile app, prevent the addition of new payees, and set limits for fund transfers and UPI usage.
Sameer Shetty, Group Executive – Digital Business, Transformation & Strategic Programs, Axis Bank, said the Safety Centre marks a decisive move to address the growing threat of digital frauds by placing security controls directly in the hands of customers.
