Astrogate Labs, a space technology startup based in Bengaluru, has successfully raised $1.3 million in a pre-Series funding round, led by the Piper Serica Angel Fund. This funding will be used to speed up the development of the company’s laser communication terminals for space, as well as expand into terrestrial and airborne applications. Additionally, the startup plans to grow its operations and strengthen collaborations with space agencies and defense organizations.
Founded by Nitish Singh, Yogeshwaran J, and Subhajit Chakraborty, Astrogate Labs is on a mission to redefine satellite communication systems.
The company’s cutting-edge technology addresses a major issue faced by the growing demand for data downlinks from small satellite constellations. With the number of small satellites expected to exceed 25,000 by 2030, traditional radio frequency systems are struggling with bandwidth limitations and spectrum congestion.
Astrogate Labs is offering a solution with its advanced laser communication technology, which supports high-speed data transfer of up to 10 Gbps. This technology is not only scalable but also provides a secure means of transmission, making it a crucial alternative for future satellite communication needs.
Earlier investors, including Speciale Invest, SatSure, and Anicut Capital, have already provided vital funding to help the company develop its innovative laser communication systems.
With the new infusion of capital, Astrogate Labs aims to lead the way in next-generation satellite communications, offering the infrastructure needed to handle the increasing data needs of small satellites and beyond.
