Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the IndiaAI compute portal and the AIKosha dataset platform

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the IndiaAI compute webpage and the AIKosha dataset platform on Thursday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the IndiaAI Mission. These programs, which are a component of the larger IndiaAI Mission, aim to increase access to AI and promote innovation in a number of industries.

For students, entrepreneurs, researchers, academic institutions, and government agencies, the compute portal will provide access to more than 18,000 GPUs, cloud storage, and other AI services. This project aims to promote AI-driven breakthroughs by making high-quality non-personal datasets more accessible.

The Minister also unveiled AIKosha, a comprehensive dataset platform that gives users the tools, resources, and professional advice they need to transform innovative concepts into workable business solutions. Developers and model builders would get access to datasets designed especially for building AI models with an emphasis on India.

The construction of India’s fundamental AI model would be greatly aided by the compute portal, Vaishnaw said, adding that 67 applications have already been received and that progress is well underway. He said that this basic model will also be developed at a far lesser cost than international efforts, drawing a comparison to India’s economical moon trip.

Vaishnaw expressed hope that India will have its own GPUs competing on the international scene in the next three to four years, pointing out that the current prices for utilizing these GPUs are enticingly low, at less than Rs 100 per hour.

The inauguration of the compute portal is expected to transform the way AI is used and used across the nation, MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan emphasized. He pointed out that with around 45% of the IndiaAI Mission’s funds going toward this site, it is the major component of the mission.

Krishnan went on to say that technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), may play a significant role in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047. MeitY also announced the India AI Startups Global Acceleration Program and presented a competence framework for AI and public sector personnel.

Additionally, the ministry celebrated 30 chosen AI applications and recognized exceptional students through the India AI Fellowship program. The IndiaAI mission, which has a budget of Rs 10,371.92 crore and aims to create a strong ecosystem to promote AI innovation through public-private partnerships, was authorized by the cabinet in March. The Digital India Corporation’s ‘IndiaAI’ Independent Business Division (IBD) is in charge of overseeing the mission.
