Ashok Leyland Expands Kerala Network With New LCV Dealership In Thiruvananthapuram

Ashok Leyland, the flagship of the Hinduja Group and India’s second largest commercial vehicle maker, has expanded its presence in Kerala with the inauguration of its sixth Light Commercial Vehicle dealership in the state.

The new 3S facility, run by channel partner Capital Trucks, is located at Vembayam, Kanyakulangara in Thiruvananthapuram. It comes equipped with modern tools, 10 quick service bays, and dedicated infrastructure to enhance customer experience.

Kerala has been identified as a key growth market for the company, where it already enjoys a strong position in the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment with over 40 percent market share. Nationally, Ashok Leyland holds 20 percent of the LCV segment.

The new dealership will showcase the company’s complete LCV lineup, including BADA DOST, DOST, SAATHI, PARTNER, and MiTR variants. “Kerala has always been a strategic growth market for us, and we are excited to strengthen our presence in this region,” said Viplav Shah, Head of LCV Business at Ashok Leyland. The company also reported a 70 percent customer retention rate even beyond warranty, underlining strong customer loyalty.

The opening comes soon after Ashok Leyland entered the sub 2 ton segment with the launch of SAATHI at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. SAATHI is powered by a 45 HP engine delivering 110 Nm of torque and features advanced Lean NOx Trap technology. With a 24 percent larger loading area than competitors, it offers a payload capacity of 1,120 kg and is priced at Rs 7.19 lakh.

The flagship BADA DOST series, built on a robust new LCV platform, includes five variants i2, i3+, i4, i5, and i5XL, powered by an 80 HP BS6 engine. These vehicles are priced between Rs 10.45 lakh and Rs 10.85 lakh, targeting both intercity and intracity applications.

Ashok Leyland is India’s second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, the world’s fourth largest bus maker, and holds 31 percent share in the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle segment as of FY24. The company currently operates more than 5.5 lakh LCVs across India and has over 1,700 authorized service centres, ensuring one every 75 kilometres on major highways. Its LCV network now has more than 850 touchpoints.

The Kerala launch is part of a larger expansion plan. The company recently opened new LCV dealerships in Agra, Uttar Pradesh in August 2025 and in Nizamabad, Telangana in April 2025. All vehicles are manufactured at its Hosur plant.

The inauguration underscores Ashok Leyland’s strategy to reinforce its leadership in southern India’s commercial vehicle market, particularly in the fast-growing light commercial vehicle space.
