HDFC Bank has appointed Ashish Kumar as Vice President – Digital and Gen AI Projects (Process Re-engineering), marking a key milestone in his 22-year career in banking and financial services. In this role, he will lead strategic initiatives around Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and digital enablement, focusing on enhancing customer experience across HDFC Bank’s omnichannel ecosystem.
At HDFC Bank, Ashish previously served as DVP – Customer Experience & Journey and National Lead – Rural Customer Engagement & Customer Service. In these roles, he strengthened customer service frameworks, improved engagement models, and advanced operational excellence across diverse customer segments.
Earlier, Ashish spent over 15 years at ICICI Bank, managing retail banking portfolios including Salary Accounts, Liability Products, Affluent Customer Strategy, and Branch Sales Channels. He played a pivotal role in pioneering innovations such as Tab Banking and digital account onboarding, laying the foundation for future-ready banking models.
Ashish began his professional journey with ICFAI and Hughes Communications, contributing to corporate sales, channel development, and business growth. His extensive experience spans product management, digital transformation, customer engagement, and process re-engineering, highlighting his versatility and impact across the BFSI sector.
An MBA graduate from Welingkar Institute of Management, Ashish has also completed ISB Executive Education in Leadership with Artificial Intelligence and a Fintech Programme by the Reserve Bank of India, equipping him with advanced knowledge in AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, and digital lending.
