In a move that highlights growing interest in industrial robotics, Bengaluru-based startup Armatrix has raised $2.1 million in fresh funding to accelerate the development of its snake-inspired robotic arms. The funding round was backed by pi Ventures along with other investors.
Founded in 2024 by 3 graduates of IIT Kanpur, Armatrix plans to use the capital to further build its technology and expand its team. The startup is focused on developing AI-powered robotic arms that can operate in confined and high-risk environments where human access is limited.
Armatrix’s robotic arms are designed to move through narrow and hazardous spaces such as storage tanks and ship hulls. The company is targeting industries where safety is critical, including shipbuilding, oil and gas, and nuclear energy. These sectors often require inspection and maintenance work in conditions that pose significant risks to human workers.
The startup is currently working to prove that its robots can perform reliably in real-world industrial settings. According to CEO Vishrant Dave, existing contracts will play an important role in demonstrating the practical readiness of the technology. These deployments are expected to validate performance as the company scales its product.
Armatrix is in the process of upgrading its robotic arm design from a 3-meter prototype to a longer 5-meter version. This scale-up is aimed at increasing reach and flexibility, allowing the robots to handle more complex tasks in challenging environments.
With fresh funding in place and early industry contracts underway, Armatrix is positioning itself to move from prototype development to broader industrial adoption. The company’s progress reflects a wider push toward using robotics and AI to improve safety and efficiency in high-risk industrial operations.
