Applied Materials, a leading semiconductor equipment maker, has signed a lease for 8.06 lakh square feet of office space at ITPB in Whitefield, Bengaluru. The deal is valued at Rs 855 crore over a period of 10 years.
Karnataka IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge shared the news on X, noting that the new facility will support the company’s growing operations in the city. The office space will also back the upcoming Innovation Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing, which is set to be the first-of-its-kind research and development fab with an investment of Rs 4,851 crore and the creation of about 1,500 jobs.
He stated, “From our visit to their US headquarters in 2023 to sustained discussions through 2024 and the cabinet approval earlier this year, it is encouraging to see these efforts take shape on the ground.”
According to Kharge, the move marks a significant boost for Karnataka’s semiconductor industry while further strengthening the state’s fast-growing Global Capability Centre ecosystem with the presence of Applied Materials.
