Apple will reportedly rely on Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence model to power its next-generation version of Siri. According to a recent report, the iPhone maker is working with Google to develop a custom Gemini-based model that will operate on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers to support the upgraded voice assistant.
The new version of Siri is expected to launch in March 2026. However, it remains uncertain whether users will fully embrace the revamped version or if it will be able to repair Siri’s long-standing image issues.
The collaboration does not mean Siri will directly feature Google services or Gemini tools. Instead, the Gemini model will function behind the scenes, supporting the assistant’s AI-driven features, including an advanced web search capability.
At the company’s 2024 developer conference, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI tools, and announced a redesigned Siri integrated with ChatGPT. However, the rollout has been slow, with limited availability of features, pushing the full Siri revamp to 2026.
This delay has further widened the technological gap between Apple and its leading competitors among the world’s top technology companies. Once the most valuable firm globally, Apple now trails behind Nvidia. During the company’s latest earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said they are “making good progress” on the new Siri and are “open to pursuing mergers and acquisitions if we think that it will advance our roadmap.”
Reports suggest that Apple is also developing a new smart home display device, available in both wall-mounted and speaker-based versions. The updated Apple TV and HomePod mini will reportedly showcase the next-generation Siri and Apple Intelligence features next year.
The company is expected to preview iOS 27, macOS 27, and watchOS 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2026, with a major focus on updates to Apple Intelligence and its broader AI strategy.
Apple has already integrated ChatGPT into Siri and is exploring potential partnerships with other AI developers such as Perplexity and Anthropic. In China, Apple is working with Alibaba to incorporate Baidu’s AI models into iPhones, though reports indicate challenges in the model’s accuracy and understanding of prompts.
