Following reports of a critical syncing problem, Apple has released the iOS 26.4.1 update to resolve issues impacting iCloud-based data across iPhones. The update comes shortly after the iOS 26.4 rollout, which had introduced the bug affecting app functionality.
Developers had flagged that devices running iOS 26.4 were not receiving iCloud change notifications. This disrupted data syncing for apps built on the CloudKit framework, impacting both first-party and third-party applications. The issue also affected Apple’s Passwords app, which is used to securely sync passwords, verification codes, and passkeys across devices.
With the release of iOS 26.4.1 (build number 23E254), Apple has addressed this problem. Users can install the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Update Now and following the steps.
The bug fix follows the earlier iOS 26.4 update, which introduced several new features and enhancements. These included Playlist Playground and a new Concerts view in Apple Music. The update also added 8 new emojis such as orca, trombone, landslide, ballet dancer, and distorted face.
Additionally, the Freeform app received advanced image creation and editing tools, along with access to a premium content library through Apple Creator Studio. Users also gained the ability to mark reminders as urgent directly from the Quick Toolbar or by pressing and holding, and filter urgent tasks in Smart Lists.
Another feature introduced earlier was Purchase Sharing, which allows adult members in Family Sharing groups to use their own payment methods instead of relying on the family organiser. Improvements were also made to keyboard accuracy for faster typing.
The iOS 26.4.1 update focuses primarily on stabilising performance and fixing the syncing issue, ensuring smoother functionality across apps that rely on iCloud data.
