Apple readies next Mac wave with M5-powered MacBook Pro models

Apple appears to be moving closer to unveiling its next generation of Mac devices, with new MacBook Pro models powered by the upcoming M5 Pro and M5 Max chips expected to launch soon.

The company has reportedly been developing these MacBook Pro models for some time. While earlier reports pointed to a February debut, a technology journalist now indicates a revised launch window. The new MacBook Pro lineup is said to arrive alongside the rollout of macOS 26.3, suggesting a tightly linked software and hardware release strategy.

According to the report, the MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max processors could arrive “as early as the week of March 2”. The devices are described as being “tied to the macOS 26.3 cycle”. It is also noted that existing MacBook Pro models powered by the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips are currently in “short supply” in the US, a pattern that often points to an imminent product refresh.

Apple is also expected to introduce several other Mac devices in the near term. These include updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro variants, as well as a MacBook Air featuring an M5 processor. In addition, upgraded Mac Studio desktop models are said to be in development and “shouldn’t arrive too long after the spring Mac refresh”. Reports further suggest that the Studio Display and refreshed Mac mini models are also planned for release later this year.

Separately, recent reports indicate that Apple may unveil a new low-cost MacBook in the first half of the year. This model is expected to feature a display smaller than 13 inches and could be powered by an iPhone-class chip. Apple is likely to position this device as a competitor to Windows laptops and Chromebooks.

Alongside its Mac roadmap, Apple is also preparing updates across its iPad portfolio. The refreshed lineup is expected to include the standard iPad, iPad Mini, and iPad Air, each receiving chipset upgrades.
