Apple to Launch Budget MacBook with iPhone 16 Pro Chip in 2026

Apple is preparing to launch a more affordable MacBook model, expected to feature a 13-inch display and the A18 Pro processor from the iPhone 16 Pro series. Mass production of the device is likely to begin in late 2025 or early 2026, as per a post by a market analyst.

The upcoming MacBook is aimed at boosting sales across Apple’s laptop range. The company is targeting a return to peak MacBook shipments of around 25 million units by 2026, a number last seen during the COVID-19 period. In comparison, Apple is expected to ship around 20 million units in 2025. The new low-cost MacBook could contribute 5 to 7 million units to the total in 2026.

The budget-friendly MacBook is expected to launch in four colour options: Silver, Blue, Pink and Yellow. While pricing details remain unclear, the new model could sit below the current entry-level MacBook Air, which starts at $999. If the prediction is accurate, the A18 Pro chip might be the main difference between the two models.

This move signals Apple’s intent to appeal to a wider customer base by offering a more affordable laptop option while still using powerful hardware. More updates about pricing and features are expected in the coming months if this report proves to be accurate.

In a separate update, the analyst also shared that Apple is working on seven head-mounted devices, many of which are expected to debut in 2027. Among them is a pair of smart glasses similar to Meta Ray-Ban, which are said to be a major focus for Apple. The company aims to ship around 3 to 5 million units of these smart glasses in 2027.

Apple is reportedly confident in its advantage in the wearable tech market due to its strong hardware and ecosystem. However, the key challenge remains the development of an AI-powered operating system and supporting software for these devices.
