Apple likely to release iOS 26.4 beta soon with early Siri upgrades

Apple is preparing to roll out its next major iPhone software update, with iOS 26.4 expected to arrive later this month and bring the first visible steps toward long-awaited Siri improvements.

According to technology journalist Mark Gurman, the upcoming update will introduce early Apple Intelligence features that were previously announced at WWDC 2024 but delayed. Along with Siri-related changes, the update is also expected to focus on performance enhancements, system stability, and a fresh set of emoji.

The first developer beta of iOS 26.4 is likely to be released during the week of February 23. If this timeline holds, additional beta builds could follow later in February or in early March. The stable version is expected to roll out to users by the end of March, although Apple typically does not confirm exact release dates outside of major launches.

The iOS 26.4 update is said to include some of the earliest components of Siri’s redesigned experience under Apple Intelligence. These include personal context features that help Siri find information stored in messages, emails, and notes, along with on-screen awareness and expanded in-app and cross-app controls.

The report also notes that Apple is placing stronger emphasis this year on fixing bugs and improving overall operating system performance. Larger and more visible software changes are expected to arrive later with iOS 27.

In addition to functional upgrades, iOS 26.4 is expected to introduce new emoji. Leaks point to additions such as an apple core, a fight cloud, and a treasure chest. Apple has not yet shared official details about the emoji lineup or the full feature list.

Apple has also confirmed plans to use Gemini as an additional AI option to support Siri, alongside its own in-house models. This integration is expected to help Siri handle more advanced, chatbot-style requests, while Apple continues to prioritise privacy through on-device processing and its Private Cloud Compute system.

As anticipation builds, iOS 26.4 is shaping up to be a key stepping stone toward Apple’s broader AI ambitions.
