Apple appears to be preparing its next affordable iPhone as it looks to strengthen its presence in price-sensitive markets such as India. The iPhone 17e, expected to succeed the iPhone 16e, is likely to offer upgraded performance and design while keeping pricing relatively accessible for users seeking an entry point into the Apple ecosystem.
While there is no official confirmation yet, reports indicate that the iPhone 17e has already entered mass production. This typically signals that a launch is approaching. Based on Apple’s past release cycles, the device could debut between February and March 2026. This window aligns with Apple’s strategy of pushing lower-priced models to boost sales in markets like India.
On the performance front, the iPhone 17e is expected to run on Apple’s A19 chipset, the same processor likely to power the main iPhone 17 lineup. If this holds true, users can expect fast everyday performance, smooth gaming, and long-term software updates.
The phone is also tipped to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display. This would deliver improved brightness and richer colours compared to older LCD panels. Another notable upgrade could be the inclusion of Dynamic Island, replacing the traditional notch and giving the phone a more premium and modern look.
In terms of cameras, the iPhone 17e is expected to retain a 48MP rear camera, similar to the previous model. The front camera, however, may see an upgrade to 18MP, which could improve selfies and video calling quality.
Charging could also see a key addition. Reports suggest Apple may introduce MagSafe support to the ‘e’ series, allowing users to use magnetic chargers and accessories that were previously limited to higher-end iPhones.
As for pricing, Apple is expected to stay close to the iPhone 16e’s launch price of around Rs.59,900 in India. This approach would help the company remain competitive while offering strong hardware and software value.
Overall, the iPhone 17e is shaping up to be a balanced option for users who want solid performance, a modern design, and Apple’s software experience without paying flagship prices.
