Apple Foldable iPhone Could Be Made in India by 2026

Apple may soon introduce its first foldable iPhone, and India is expected to play a key role in its production.

According to a recent report, the company has begun working with suppliers in Taiwan on a small-scale test run for the device. A pilot production line is being set up where engineers are focusing on testing equipment, refining the design, and working out the complex steps of building a foldable smartphone. Once this process is perfected, Apple plans to move large-scale manufacturing to India.

The timeline being discussed points to 2026, which means the foldable iPhone could launch in about two years. Apple is reportedly planning to manufacture around 95 million iPhones in that year’s lineup, more than 10 per cent higher than its current output, with the foldable model expected to be a significant part of this expansion.

This would also mark another major milestone in Apple’s growing investment in India. In recent years, the company has shifted a considerable part of its production away from China, and India has rapidly become one of its most important manufacturing hubs. A foldable iPhone produced in India would further strengthen this position.

Apple has not yet commented on the report, but excitement is building in the market. The foldable smartphone segment already has strong players such as Samsung and Huawei. Known for entering markets only when technology is fully refined, Apple now seems confident that the time is right to make its move.

Earlier this month, Apple unveiled its latest iPhones and introduced a slimmer iPhone Air, keeping prices steady despite global challenges. However, if the foldable iPhone is launched in 2026, it could become one of the most talked-about devices in the company’s history.
