Apple announces a $500 billion investment in the US, creating 20,000 new jobs

Over the next four years, Apple plans to invest a substantial $500 billion in the US and create 20,000 new jobs. The statement follows a recent Oval Office meeting between US President Donald Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook. The decision comes as the business seeks relief from US taxes on items imported from China.

A new server manufacturing plant in Houston, a supplier school in Michigan, and increased spending with current US suppliers are just a few of the activities that will be part of the investment.

Apple to invest $500 billion and create 20,000 new jobs

According to the report, Apple’s greatest commitment to the US to date is represented by the $500 billion investment and 20,000 new employment. The business emphasized its commitment to helping the nation’s future and its faith in American ingenuity.

“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing US investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future,” Cook said in a statement.

“We’ll keep working with people and companies across this country to help write an extraordinary new chapter in the history of American innovation,” he added.

Cook also shared a post on X regarding the investment.

Key initiatives of Apple’s investment:

Server manufacturing in Houston: Later this year, Apple will start manufacturing servers for its Private Cloud Compute system in Houston in collaboration with Foxconn Technology Group, moving some production from outside. Next year, a specialized 250,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in the city.

Data center expansion: In Arizona, Oregon, Iowa, Nevada, and North Carolina, Apple plans to increase the capacity of its data centers.

Chip production: According to reports, Apple has verified that mass manufacture of semiconductors for Apple Watches and iPads has begun at a Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. plant in Arizona.

Job creation: AI, silicon engineering, and research and development will be the main areas of the 20,000 new positions.

Manufacturing academy in Detroit: Apple plans to open a manufacturing academy in Detroit to help smaller manufacturing businesses.

Increased manufacturing fund: To reach $10 billion, Apple is increasing its US manufacturing fund.

Cook has had many conversations with the US president, including meeting at Mar-a-Lago and attending the inauguration.

After the recent meeting, Trump said, “He’s investing hundreds of billions of dollars.” – implying that the iPhone maker is investing locally because it does not want to pay tariffs, a media report said. Trump has notably threatened to impose an extra 10% tax on goods imported from China, where Apple produces the great bulk of its products, including iPhones.
