Wishing Mr. Antonio Filosa greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!
Stellantis N.V. has appointed Antonio Filosa as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from June 23, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s journey through the evolving global automotive landscape. The decision came unanimously from the Board of Directors, reflecting strong confidence in Filosa’s proven leadership and vision.
Filosa, currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Americas and Chief Quality Officer, brings over 25 years of rich experience in the automotive sector. His leadership has been instrumental in cementing Stellantis’ dominance in South America. Among his notable achievements are guiding FIAT to the top of the market, boosting brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep®, and overseeing the launch of the Pernambuco plant, one of the continent’s largest automotive hubs. He also played a key role in introducing Jeep successfully to Brazil.
The Board entrusted Filosa with CEO powers immediately to ensure a smooth transition as the company awaits an Extraordinary Shareholder Meeting to formalize his role as an executive director. This leadership change follows a comprehensive search led by Executive Chairman John Elkann.
Filosa’s tenure as Jeep CEO expanded the brand’s global reach, particularly in Europe, where models like the Jeep Avenger spurred strong sales. His rise continued with appointments as COO for North America in late 2024 and then COO for all Americas, alongside his role as Chief Quality Officer in early 2025.
Under his recent stewardship of the Americas division, Filosa focused on restructuring leadership, cutting down dealership overstock, speeding up new product launches and powertrain development, and strengthening ties with dealers, unions, and suppliers.
Executive Chairman John Elkann praised Filosa’s deep industry insight and ability to steer through complex challenges, while Vice Chairman Robert Peugeot called him “the natural choice” for leading Stellantis into the future. Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of a prominent financial institution, also endorsed Filosa’s expertise in managing the company’s transformation.
Filosa expressed humility and determination upon his appointment, saying, “We have the world’s best and most iconic brands in automotive history and an over 100-year heritage of innovation.” He emphasized the passion of Stellantis’ workforce as the driving force behind continued excellence.
An engineering graduate from Politecnico di Milano with an executive MBA from Brazil’s Fundação Dom Cabral, Filosa joined the Fiat Group in 1999. His extensive career includes roles such as plant manager in Betim, head of purchasing in Latin America, and operational leadership in Argentina.
Currently based in Michigan, USA, Filosa is expected to unveil Stellantis’ new leadership team when he officially assumes the CEO position.
