A steady rise in demand for advanced AI tools has pushed Anthropic to strengthen its footprint in India, marking a key step in its global growth journey.
Anthropic has inaugurated a new office in Bengaluru as part of a broader expansion strategy. The move comes as India has emerged as the second-largest market for Claude, the company’s AI assistant. The Bengaluru facility is Anthropic’s 2nd office in the Asia-Pacific region after Tokyo and will be led by tech veteran Irina Ghose.
India now accounts for nearly half of Claude’s usage in computer-based and mathematical tasks, including application development and system modernisation. Anthropic said the run-rate revenue from these operations has doubled since the expansion announcement made in October 2025, underlining the country’s growing importance to its business.
The new Bengaluru office will focus on hiring local talent and delivering applied AI expertise. This approach is aimed at supporting enterprises, digital-native firms, and start-ups in building and scaling Claude-powered solutions tailored to Indian needs. The company said this local presence will help it respond more effectively to market-specific requirements.
Alongside the office launch, Anthropic also announced strategic partnerships across education, enterprise, and agriculture sectors in India. These collaborations are designed to encourage responsible AI adoption across industries.
In the enterprise space, Anthropic highlighted key wins, including Air India using Claude Code to speed up custom software development. Cognizant has also deployed Claude to 350,000 employees worldwide to support legacy system upgrades.
Anthropic said these developments reflect its commitment to building long-term partnerships in India while positioning Claude as a core AI platform for innovation, productivity, and digital transformation.
