Andhra Pradesh leads national rankings in fruit and fish production, shows steady progress

Fresh data highlights Andhra Pradesh’s strong performance across agriculture, fisheries, and key development indicators.

According to a recent Reserve Bank of India report, Andhra Pradesh emerged as a top performer across several sectors during the 2024-25 financial year. The state government said the findings reflect steady economic and social progress.

“Andhra Pradesh ranked first in fruit production with over 19 million tonnes and also topped the country in fish production with nearly 5.1 million tonnes,” the release said. These results underline the state’s leadership in both agriculture and fisheries.

The report also pointed to consistent economic growth. Andhra Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product was estimated at nearly Rs 16 lakh crore at current prices during 2024-25. Per capita GSDP stood at over Rs 2.5 lakh, indicating improved income levels for residents.

In the power sector, the state ranked 14th nationally, with per capita electricity availability of nearly 1,500 units. This reflects stable power supply supporting economic and household needs.

Health and social indicators also showed balanced outcomes. Average life expectancy in Andhra Pradesh was recorded at 70 years, matching the national average. Male life expectancy stood at 68 years, while female life expectancy was higher at 73 years.

On sustainable development, Andhra Pradesh ranked 10th in the country with a score of 74 on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The ranking highlights advances across multiple development parameters.

The state government said the report confirms Andhra Pradesh’s steady growth path across economic output, social well being, and resource availability.
