Anacostia Rail Holdings Welcomes Michael Naatz as New COO

Anacostia Rail Holdings (ARH) is excited to announce the appointment of Michael Naatz as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Peter A. Gilbertson, President and CEO of ARH, expressed confidence in Naatz’s leadership, stating, “Mike brings a strong supply chain background to our railroads. His success across various transportation and logistics roles—and our previous collaboration with him as an industry peer—makes us certain he will provide the strategic leadership and execution necessary to support our customers’ needs and drive our growth forward.”

Before joining ARH, Naatz served as EVP and Chief Marketing Officer at Kansas City Southern (KCS), where he guided the company to impressive growth. Prior to that, he held the position of SVP, Operations Support and CIO at KCS, overseeing intermodal operations, mechanical, service design, and IT. Naatz has also had a distinguished career at YRC Worldwide (YRC), where he was president of YRC Holland and earlier, Chief Customer Officer. His career journey began at Westvaco, a global packaging leader.

“I’m excited to join an already great rail team,” says Naatz. “Short line railroads are known for their strong customer-focused culture, and Anacostia is a leader in safety, responsive service, and innovation. I look forward to leveraging the proven talent and skills across all of Anacostia’s railroads to support continued growth.”

In addition to his extensive professional background, Naatz holds certifications as a National Private Truck Council Certified Transportation Professional and a Certified National Association of Corporate Directors Governance Fellow. He is also an active member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. Naatz has served on the boards of TTX Company and Railinc, chairing their audit committees, and has been involved with organizations such as KC SmartPort and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.

With Naatz at the helm of operations, Anacostia Rail Holdings is poised to strengthen its leadership in the rail industry and continue its commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, and innovation.
