Amit Bajaj Reappointed as Managing Director and Global Affairs Head at Essar Capital

Essar Capital has named Amit Bajaj as its Managing Director and Global Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Policy, with his appointment effective from 11 August 2025. This move marks Bajaj’s return to the Group, signalling a renewed focus on expanding Essar’s global influence in public policy and building strategic alliances to drive its ongoing transformation.

Bajaj brings with him over 25 years of experience in regulatory strategy and stakeholder engagement, with a strong background across energy, infrastructure, technology, and financial services. His career has spanned multiple regions including Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America, where he has worked closely with governments, industry associations, and international institutions to shape policy reforms that enable business growth.

Before rejoining Essar, he held the position of Senior President, Corporate Affairs at Aditya Birla Group, where he aligned the organisation’s corporate strategies with global policy trends. His previous tenure at Essar lasted from 2004 to 2014, during which he played a key leadership role within the Group.

In this new role, Bajaj will lead Essar’s global engagement initiatives, with a focus on areas such as green energy, digital innovation, and infrastructure development. His appointment comes at a pivotal time, as Essar intensifies its efforts in energy transition and advancing its sustainability goals.

Prashant Ruia, Director at Essar, welcomed Bajaj’s appointment, stating his “deep regulatory insight and alignment with the Group’s forward-looking mission” make him well suited for this leadership position. Bajaj also shared his enthusiasm about returning to the organisation, noting that Essar’s innovation-led approach and global commitment to sustainability were key reasons behind his decision.
