The future of personal computing took centre stage as AMD opened CES 2026 with a strong focus on making artificial intelligence accessible to everyone. During the keynote address, AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su highlighted how advanced compute power can reshape everyday technology through wider adoption of AI driven devices.
At the event, AMD introduced the Ryzen AI 400 Series processor, its newest AI focused chip for personal computers. The company said the latest processors deliver 1.3x faster multitasking compared to competitors and offer 1.7x faster performance for content creation. The chips feature 12 CPU cores and 24 threads which support smoother parallel processing. This marks an upgrade from the Ryzen AI 300 Series announced in 2024 and builds on the Ryzen processor lineup that AMD has produced since 2017.
Speaking at a recent press briefing, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s client business Rahul Tikoo said the company now supports over 250 AI PC platforms, reflecting 2x growth over the past year. “In the years ahead, AI is going to be a multi-layered fabric that gets woven into every level of computing at the personal layer,” Tikoo said. “Our AI PCs and devices will transform how we work, how we play, how we create and how we connect with each other.”
AMD also announced the Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor designed for gaming performance along with the latest version of its Redstone ray tracing technology which improves realistic lighting in games without reducing speed. “No matter who you are and how you use technology on a daily basis, AI is reshaping everyday computing,” Tikoo said. PCs powered by either the Ryzen AI 300 Series or the Ryzen 7 9850X3D are expected to be available in the 1st quarter of 2026.
