Amazon has started rolling out a redesigned version of its Fire TV mobile app for Android, introducing a refreshed interface and new features aimed at making the app easier to use. The company said the update will be available free of charge to users.
According to an official announcement, the redesigned app focuses on simplifying navigation and improving the overall mobile experience. Amazon wants the mobile application to function as a companion tool for the Fire TV experience on televisions, helping users browse content before watching it on their TV screens.
One of the major updates positions the mobile app as a platform for discovering and browsing shows and movies. Users can explore content directly from their phones and manage watchlists, a feature commonly used across streaming platforms to save titles for later viewing.
The updated app will also function as a secondary remote control. It provides full remote capabilities for Fire TV devices that are signed in with the user’s Amazon account, allowing users to navigate menus, select content and start playback without using a physical remote.
Several design improvements in the mobile app mirror updates introduced earlier to the Fire TV operating system. These changes include improved typography, clearer menus and enhanced content recommendations, aimed at making the interface more intuitive.
Earlier this year, Amazon also introduced the Ember Artline TV, which includes presence-sensing technology, with a starting price of $899.
The new Fire TV interface has already begun rolling out to select devices, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd gen) and the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series. Amazon said other compatible devices are expected to receive the update later this spring.
The redesigned Fire TV mobile app is now being released to users in the United States, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the United Kingdom.
