Amazon Launches Next-Generation Kindle Scribe Lineup, Including First-Ever Colour Model

Amazon has unveiled its new Kindle Scribe lineup, featuring redesigned e-note devices focused on productivity and reading. The range includes the Kindle Scribe with and without a front light, and the company’s first-ever color model, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft.

The updated devices are thinner at 5.4mm, lighter at 400 grams, and 40 percent faster than previous models. They feature an 11-inch glare-free display with proportions similar to a sheet of paper. Enhancements include a new front light system, texture-molded glass for a paper-like feel, and a reengineered display stack that reduces parallax for a natural writing experience.

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft introduces a custom-built colour display designed to be easier on the eyes than traditional LCDs. Powered by Amazon’s Colorsoft technology, it supports smooth, natural color writing and annotation while delivering weeks of battery life, without distractions such as apps or notifications.

Amazon is also expanding Kindle Scribe as a productivity device with an AI-powered notebook and redesigned software. Users can take Quick Notes, import and export documents via Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, and perform AI-powered searches that generate summaries and allow follow-up questions. Later this year, notes and documents can be sent to Alexa+ for interactive conversations, and notebooks can be shared with OneNote as text or embedded images.

New creative tools include 10 pen colors, five highlighter shades, and a shader tool for smooth gradients, giving artists and note-takers more control. The devices retain full Kindle reading functionality with access to the e-book store and a three-month Kindle Unlimited subscription. AI-powered reading features include Story So Far, offering spoiler-free recaps, and Ask this Book, which allows readers to highlight passages and ask contextual questions.

All devices come with a new stylus that attaches magnetically and never requires charging. Amazon is also offering a variety of folio covers, including plant-based, premium leather, and executive notebook-style options.

Pricing starts at $429.99 for the Kindle Scribe without a front light, $499.99 for the Scribe with a front light, and $629.99 for the Scribe Colorsoft. The lineup will be available in the US later this year, and in the UK and Germany early next year.
