Amazon launches Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 with smarter home features in India

Amazon India has expanded its smart home portfolio with the launch of two new devices, the Echo Show 11 and the fourth generation Echo Show 8. Both smart displays come with a refreshed design and enhanced Alexa powered features, aimed at users who want a larger screen, better sound, and easier smart home control.

The new Echo Show models feature edge to edge glass screens with slim bezels for a modern look. The Echo Show 11 comes with an 11 inch display, while the Echo Show 8 offers an 8.7 inch screen. According to the company, the updated design improves comfort for daily use, including video streaming, cooking, browsing recipes, and making video calls.

Powering both devices is Amazon’s custom AZ3 Pro chip, which is said to offer faster responses and smoother performance. They also run on the new Omnisense sensor platform that combines data from a 13 megapixel camera, audio input, ultrasound, motion and temperature sensors, and Wi Fi signals. These sensors allow Alexa to respond automatically, such as switching on lights when someone enters a room or triggering routines when a certain temperature is reached.

Users can control compatible smart home devices through voice commands or the touch screen. They can also manage calendars, shopping lists, reminders, and music playback. Smart home routines can be set up using the Alexa app, making automation easy for new users.

The new Echo Show devices also focus on entertainment. Users can stream music, podcasts, audiobooks, and watch videos from supported platforms. Voice commands allow hands free control.

Audio quality has been upgraded with front facing stereo speakers and a custom woofer. This delivers deeper bass, clearer vocals, and better sound for music, videos, and calls.

For video calling and home monitoring, both models include a 13 megapixel camera with auto framing and noise reduction. Users can also use Drop In or view live feeds from compatible security cameras.

Privacy features include physical buttons to turn off the microphone and camera, along with options to delete voice recordings.

The Echo Show 11 is priced at Rs 26,999, while the Echo Show 8 costs Rs 23,999. Both are available in Graphite and Glacier White and can be bought online and at select retail stores.

Amazon has confirmed that these devices will support Alexa Plus, its upcoming generative AI assistant, once it launches in India.
