Amazon brings Alexa+ AI assistant to the web with launch of Alexa.com

Amazon has expanded its AI powered Alexa+ assistant to the web, marking a major step in making the service more widely accessible. On Monday, the company announced that Alexa+, which was earlier limited to Echo devices, Fire TV, and the redesigned Alexa app, can now be accessed through a web browser at Alexa.com.

The new website allows users to interact with Alexa+ even when they are away from their smart devices or smartphones. The web version includes all existing features such as memory, personalisation, and contextual understanding, similar to popular AI chat platforms.

In a newsroom update, Amazon described Alexa.com as the new digital home for Alexa+. Explaining the move, the company said, “To truly serve as a personal assistant, Alexa+ needs to be available wherever they are—at home, on their phone, and now on the web.” Access to the website is currently limited to users with early access. This includes United States customers who own compatible Echo or Fire TV devices or have an active Amazon Prime subscription.

Through the web interface, eligible users can ask questions, explore detailed topics, create content, plan trips with full itineraries, and get help with homework. Alexa+ also offers agent like features that allow it to update calendar events, control smart home devices, and make reservations. Since the assistant retains memory from previous conversations, users can switch between Echo devices, the mobile app, and the browser without losing context.

Amazon highlighted several practical uses for Alexa+. The assistant can help with weekly meal planning by creating recipes based on user preferences. If ingredients are missing, it can automatically add them to an Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods shopping cart.

For users with connected smart home devices, Alexa+ on the web allows remote control. Users can check who is at the front door, turn lights on or off, adjust the thermostat, and view security cameras while away from home.

The assistant also supports multimodal input. Users can upload images, emails, and documents, which Alexa+ can analyse to extract information, add events to the calendar, or store details and send reminders at the right time. With this web launch, Amazon is positioning Alexa+ as a stronger competitor in the growing AI assistant space.
