Allison Alley Named New President and CEO of World Vision Canada

World Vision Canada has announced the appointment of Allison Alley as its new President and CEO, set to take on the role on April 22, 2025. Alley brings a wealth of experience from her leadership role at Compassion Canada, where she served as President and CEO since 2019, following her tenure in senior positions at the organization starting in 2012. Prior to her work in the nonprofit sector, Alley had a successful career in financial services.

Throughout her career, Alley has made a significant impact on global development. She has visited 29 countries, witnessing firsthand the effects of humanitarian programs and working closely with international teams. In her global leadership role at Compassion Canada, she supported the organization’s mission across 12 countries, driving strategic efforts in regions such as Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania.

World Vision Canada’s Board of Directors praised Alley for her transformative leadership at Compassion Canada, noting her success in expanding the organization’s digital presence, restructuring operations, and increasing both its outreach and revenue. They also highlighted her servant leadership, strategic vision, and deep commitment to advocating for positive global change through her Christian faith.

Alley holds an impressive academic background with a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary, where she specialized in International Development and Urban Studies. She also earned an MBA from the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey Business School.

Currently, Alley serves as the chair of the board for the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities, an association that supports over 3,200 Christian ministries in Canada. She has also previously served on the Kentro Network’s board.

Deborah Holbrook, Chair of the Board of World Vision Canada, expressed enthusiasm about Alley’s appointment, saying, “We are delighted to welcome Allison to World Vision Canada. She is passionate about our mission to partner with children, families and communities to help them overcome poverty and injustice and to experience fullness of life. We look forward to Allison bringing her experience, insight, and expertise to World Vision.”

In response, Alley shared, “I am honoured to join World Vision and grateful for the opportunity to join this incredible team who together serve and empower so many of the most vulnerable children in the world. As I begin this new chapter, I look forward to coming alongside our committed supporters and faithful partners.”

Alley will take over from Michael Messenger, who has served as President and CEO of World Vision Canada from 2015 to 2025. In April, Messenger will work with Alley and the board to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
