Alibaba Cloud to Launch Second Data Center in South Korea, Bolstering AI and Cloud Bet

Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., is set to open its second data center in South Korea by the end of June. This strategic expansion underscores the company’s accelerating, multibillion-dollar commitment to the burgeoning fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing.

The new facility is a key component of a massive 380 billion yuan (approximately $52.9 billion USD) investment in AI and cloud infrastructure that Alibaba announced earlier this year, according to a company spokesperson. This significant capital allocation highlights Alibaba’s determination to strengthen its global cloud presence and support the rapid growth of AI technologies.

The decision to expand its footprint in South Korea comes in direct response to the escalating demand from South Korean businesses for advanced cloud and AI services. Since its initial entry into the South Korean market in 2022 with its first data center in Seoul, Alibaba Cloud has observed a robust appetite for its offerings.

The upcoming second data center will further enhance its capacity and capabilities to serve the dynamic needs of the region’s enterprises, enabling them to leverage cutting-edge cloud solutions for innovation and digital transformation.
