Airtel Enhances AI Tool to Block Spam Calls and Adds Regional Language Alerts

In a significant update, Bharti Airtel has upgraded its AI-driven tool designed to block spam calls and messages, now offering enhanced features to ensure a safer mobile experience. The revamped system now includes alerts for international numbers and provides notifications in ten regional languages, expanding its accessibility and user-friendliness.

Initially launched in September 2024, Airtel’s intelligent system has evolved to tackle the growing issue of unwanted communications. With this upgrade, customers will receive real-time notifications for both domestic and international spam calls or messages, ensuring they stay informed about potentially harmful or fraudulent contacts.

Airtel has also taken a major step in making this tool more inclusive. The spam alerts will now be available in ten regional Indian languages, including Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, alongside English. This language support is currently available exclusively for Android users, and the company has yet to announce when, or if, this feature will be extended to iPhone users.

The AI solution operates automatically without requiring any user intervention. It’s free for all Airtel customers and relies on a sophisticated in-house algorithm. This algorithm analyzes multiple parameters, such as caller behavior, frequency of messages, and call duration, to flag suspicious activity in real time. Since its debut, the tool has flagged over 27.5 billion spam calls, highlighting the immense scale of the issue in India’s telecom landscape.

Airtel has emphasized that the AI tool is available to all its subscribers with a valid connection, with no manual activation required. It continues to enhance the service, with plans to introduce support for additional languages in upcoming updates.

In parallel, Airtel also announced an exciting partnership with SpaceX to bring high-speed satellite internet, under the Starlink brand, to India. This collaboration aims to further elevate Airtel’s telecommunications infrastructure by offering advanced satellite connectivity to users across the country.

Airtel’s constant innovations reflect its commitment to creating a more secure, efficient, and user-friendly experience for its vast customer base, further solidifying its leadership in the Indian telecom industry.
