Airtel on Wednesday introduced special measures to support its users in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, where heavy rains and extreme weather have caused major disruptions to telecom services.
The company said that prepaid customers whose plans are due to expire this week will automatically receive a three day extension. This will include unlimited calls and 1 GB of data per day, even if customers are unable to recharge their accounts.
An Airtel spokesperson said, “Unprecedented rains and extreme weather have severely disrupted telecom services across Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. In these challenging times, staying connected is more important than ever.”
For postpaid and broadband customers, Airtel is offering a three day grace period on bill payments to ensure that services continue without interruption.
The company also confirmed that Intra Circle Roaming has been enabled in Jammu, Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. This will allow customers to connect through other available networks in the region.
Airtel stated that its teams are working on the ground to restore normal services as quickly as possible.
