Airtel Africa Launches Foundation to Transform 10 Million Lives by 2030

Airtel Africa has officially launched the Airtel Africa Foundation (AAF), a pan-African philanthropic initiative aimed at transforming lives across the continent. The announcement was made at a global press conference in Lagos on September 23, 2025.

The Foundation has set an ambitious goal to impact 10 million lives by 2030, focusing on four key areas: Financial Inclusion, Education, Environmental Protection, and Digital Inclusion, collectively referred to as FEED.

Originally launched in July 2024, the Foundation is governed by an independent board and operates across all 14 countries where Airtel Africa is present. Early initiatives are already underway, including the adoption and upgrade of schools, the award of 100 new scholarships in Nigeria, and digital learning programs where teachers receive IT training. Community technology hubs have been piloted in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Partnerships such as the $57 million UNICEF programme are equipping thousands of young people with essential digital skills for the future.

Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Airtel Africa Foundation, said, “We are empowering lives. We are touching lives. Enough for them to make the transformation themselves, with AAF as the catalyst.”

The launch highlights Airtel Africa’s commitment to using technology and innovation to create sustainable social impact, leveraging its extensive network and regional reach to support communities across Africa in meaningful ways.
