Airbus has signed a contract worth fifty million euros to integrate artificial intelligence developed by the French Ministerial Agency for Defence AI into weapons and information systems used by the French armed forces.
The company said the first phase of the contract will focus on improving Spationav, the national maritime surveillance system. The updates will include the use of artificial intelligence to process data collected from satellites.
Future phases of the project are expected to cover intelligence, cybersecurity and the management of military telecommunications networks. France plans to bring together all data collected from sensors in satellites, radars and drones. The aim is to support better coordination and strengthen the country’s defence operations.
