AI strengthening Make in India and Vocal for Local vision, says Haryana CM

Speaking on the growing role of technology in national development, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said artificial intelligence is becoming a key driver of the “Vocal for Local” and “Make in India” initiatives. He emphasised that aligning global innovation with local needs is essential for sustainable growth.

Addressing the TiE AI Summit–2026 held in Chandigarh on Saturday evening, Saini said the theme “Glocal AI – Real Impact” reflects the current need of the hour. He noted that global thinking must be effectively integrated with local solutions to create meaningful outcomes.

The chief minister said AI has moved beyond being just a technological tool and has become an integral part of healthcare, education, agriculture, industry, and governance. Highlighting national progress, he said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is playing a leading role globally in AI research, innovation and responsible policymaking.”

He explained that AI is improving accuracy in disease diagnosis and treatment in healthcare. In education, it is strengthening personalised learning models. In agriculture, AI is helping farmers improve productivity, gain better market access, and add more value to their produce. Saini also noted that small and medium enterprises are using AI to enhance efficiency and compete more effectively in global markets.

The chief minister announced that a proposal has been made to set up the “Haryana AI Mission” to promote the adoption of artificial intelligence across the state. He said the World Bank has assured assistance of Rs 470 crore for the mission.

Under the proposed initiative, 2 dedicated AI hubs will be established in Gurugram and Panchkula. These centres aim to train 50,000 youth in emerging and advanced technologies, creating a skilled workforce aligned with future industry needs.

Saini said the initiative is expected to strengthen Haryana’s position as an emerging AI and innovation hub while supporting inclusive growth and employment opportunities.
