For people who signed up for the Search Labs trial, AI Mode in Search was initially made available as a shortcut in the Google app for Android in April. According to a research, more individuals worldwide are now able to use this shortcut. This shortcut symbol is mostly found in the search box of the Google app and in the widget of the app as the third icon. These shortcuts are designed to make it easier for users to access the interface of the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered search experience.
AI Mode’s Shortcut Icon Reportedly Rolling Out Widely
A 9to5Google article claims that more Android users worldwide are now able to use the AI Mode widget shortcut. According to reports, the new shortcut will come with the Google app version 16.28 from the Mountain View-based internet behemoth. The app’s 4×1 widget that displays the search bar will have a shortcut to AI Mode.
Usually, this search bar has two shortcuts: one for Google Lens and one for the microphone. Android users will now see a third icon at the far right, though. Housed in a circle of its own, this icon has the Gemini sparkling emblem and a magnifying glass. Users may long-press the widget to access the settings or customization panel, navigate to shortcuts, and choose AI Mode from the list if they are unable to view it immediately. It may be found at the second place on the list.
Although this is the quickest way to enter AI Mode, the Google app is another location where the symbol is now available. Users will see the symbol in the search field if they have registered for Search Lab’s AI Mode trial. If they haven’t, the symbol will show up beneath the search bar, next to the Lens, microphone, and Lens gallery choices.
Fascinatingly, the article said that although the indicator is there in the search bar of the Discover feed interface as well. It’s probable that this shortcut isn’t currently being used outside of the United States. Notably, the Search Live option in AI Mode is now available to US users as well and can be enabled in Search Labs.
