Google official has stated that artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful technology that is democratizing access to information, not merely a trendy term. Wilson L. White, Google’s vice president for Government Affairs & Public Policy, stated that having access to knowledge is essential to maximizing human potential and a fundamental right.
“AI isn’t just a buzzword for us; it’s a powerful technology that helps us personalise experiences, translate languages instantly, and surface relevant information when you need it most.”
“Whether it’s helping a student find the right research paper or enabling a farmer to access real-time weather data, AI is democratising access to knowledge,” he said on the sidelines of an event here.
Summarising Google’s approach to AI, he said it is “Bold, Responsible, and Together”.
First and foremost, it is about introducing daring and remarkable AI solutions to greatly enhance life, whether those solutions are search, maps, translate, Gemini, or others.
Second, he continued, it is about developing this technology in a way that is responsible and safe for everyone.
According to White, the third focuses on creating AI in collaboration with corporations, governments, and academic institutions in order to boost productivity.
He went on to say that since 2015, Google.org, the internet giant’s charity arm, has expanded its support for regional non-profits in India to more than $60 million in financing, over $195 million in donated goods, and more than 70,000 volunteer hours.
