Agilent Names Dr. August Specht as Chief Technology Officer to Lead R&D Innovation

Agilent Technologies Inc. (A), a frontrunner in analytical and clinical laboratory technologies, has revealed the appointment of August Specht, Ph.D., as the new Chief Technology Officer. Specht, who formerly served as vice president of Global R&D for the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific, is set to officially join Agilent on June 9, 2025.

Padraig McDonnell, Agilent’s president and CEO, shared his excitement regarding Specht’s joining, emphasizing his vast experience in the design, development, and marketing of analytical instruments, software, and consumables. Specht’s experience includes numerous leadership positions in R&D, product management, strategy, and business development at Thermo Fisher and Varian Instruments.

Specht earned a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Chemistry from Queen’s University in Canada, a doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. His knowledge is anticipated to propel Agilent’s commitment to innovation and solution delivery within the scientific community.

Agilent Technologies Inc. (A, Financial), which reported a revenue of $6.51 billion in fiscal year 2024 and employs approximately 18,000 individuals worldwide, continues to enhance its leadership with this significant appointment.
