Adani Group to Build Two 1000-Bed Hospitals in Mumbai and Ahmedabad

The Adani Group is entering the healthcare sector by building two large medical campuses in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. These campuses will each have a 1000-bed hospital along with a full-fledged medical college. Referred to as “Healthcare Temples,” these projects are part of the Adani family’s ₹60000 crore commitment to healthcare, education, and skill development in India.

In the first phase, ₹6000 crore will be invested in developing these two sites. Each location will have a multi-specialty hospital, a medical college admitting 150 undergraduate students every year, over 80 postgraduate residents, and 40 fellows. The campuses will also feature step-down care units, transitional care facilities, and advanced research centers.

The Mumbai hospital will be built in Kandivali and is expected to become the city’s largest private healthcare facility. The Ahmedabad site is also set to emerge as a major healthcare hub in Gujarat.

To ensure global standards, Adani Group has partnered with Mayo Clinic Global Consulting from the United States. Mayo Clinic will help design and guide the technology, clinical services, and overall organisation of these hospitals. The goal is to bring best practices in patient care, digital healthcare systems, and medical education.

Gautam Adani described this move as a “revolution” in Indian healthcare. He said the initiative is focused on offering world-class and affordable healthcare while combining medical treatment, research, and training in one place. In his words, “Proud to launch Adani Health City in partnership with Mayo Clinic, pioneering world-class medical research, affordable healthcare and education.”

These two hospitals are just the beginning. The long-term plan is to build several Adani Health Cities across the country. These health cities aim to serve people from all income groups and set new standards for treating complex diseases and driving innovation in healthcare.

This marks a major shift for the Adani Group as it moves beyond its core industries to create a modern, inclusive, and high-quality healthcare ecosystem.
