Taiwanese electronics brand Acer has launched a new manufacturing facility in Puducherry to boost its operations in India. The plant, owned and managed by contract manufacturer Plumage Solutions, will produce a range of products, including computer monitors, All-in-One desktops, servers, workstations, and power adapters.
The facility has an annual production capacity of 3,00,000 laptops. Plumage Group has committed an investment of ₹50 crore over the next three to four years to expand production and enhance Acer’s manufacturing capabilities in the country.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity).
Harish Kohli, President and Managing Director of Acer India, said, “With this new manufacturing facility in Puducherry, we are proud to take another step towards supporting the Government of India’s vision of self-reliance in electronics. The collaboration with Plumage allows us to bring global processes, cutting-edge technology and high-quality standards to domestic manufacturing, creating a robust and agile supply chain that serves the Indian market more efficiently.”
The plant has been set up under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for IT Hardware. According to Acer, this development is a part of its broader localisation strategy, aimed at increasing domestic production, reducing reliance on imports, and meeting the growing demand in both urban and emerging markets.
