Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. has reported an accidental leak of its third-quarter draft financial figures after the file was mistakenly shared on the WhatsApp status of one of its Key Managerial Personnel (KMP). The post was visible only to the person’s contacts for a brief period. The company called it an “unintentional human error” and said corrective steps were immediately taken once the issue was discovered.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on January 4, 2026, while first-cut unaudited draft statements for the quarter ended December 31, 2025 were being prepared for the accounts team. During this process the draft file was inadvertently uploaded to the KMP’s personal WhatsApp status instead of being circulated through internal channels. Hatsun Agro noted the information could qualify as Unpublished Price Sensitive Information (UPSI) and that about 19 contacts including some internal personnel may have viewed it. The post was removed within an hour and the company began checking for any misuse of the data.
Hatsun Agro emphasized that the figures were preliminary drafts subject to review and audit. The company has voluntarily informed the stock exchanges as a precaution and said the matter will be presented to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors. Following SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations 2015 and the company’s Insider Trading Code, a formal internal investigation has been launched. Names of all individuals who may have accessed the draft are being recorded to monitor any trading activity if required.
Market experts said such leaks raise questions about compliance and reputation management but noted that Hatsun Agro’s prompt disclosure shows regulatory discipline. The company stated there was no intent to profit from the accidental post and no evidence of insider trading has emerged. On Monday the company’s shares closed at ₹960.00 on the BSE down ₹1.62 or 1.85%. Analysts said the fall reflected cautious market sentiment rather than fundamentals. Hatsun Agro confirmed it will strengthen internal controls and data handling to prevent a repeat and maintain investor confidence.
