Accenture to Begin Operations in Tiruchi, Marking a Major Leap for Tamil Nadu’s Expanding IT Landscape

In a landmark development for southern Tamil Nadu, global technology powerhouse Accenture is preparing to commence operations in the city of Tiruchi, making it the third location in the state after Chennai and Coimbatore to host the multinational firm.

Sources reveal that Accenture will be operating from a facility situated along the Karur Bypass, near Annamalai Nagar. Infrastructure work is currently progressing at a steady pace to prepare the premises for launch.

This strategic expansion highlights Tiruchi’s growing relevance in the tech world, thanks to its strong educational foundation and the presence of numerous renowned engineering institutions. The city, already known for its rich academic heritage, is now poised to become a key player in the digital domain.

V Arun Roy, Secretary of the Department of Industries, shared that the company had communicated its intent to establish a base in Tiruchi during the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year. “It is a transformational move for Tiruchi, which had a huge chunk of IT graduates. It would create new employment opportunities and contribute to the State digital ecosystem,” he said.

Accenture has already started the initial phases of staffing and recruitment for various roles, signaling that the launch is on track. This move is expected to create significant job opportunities and provide a boost to local talent in and around the region.

In parallel, the construction of a major TIDEL Park is underway in Panjapur, close to the newly built Integrated Bus Terminus on the Tiruchi-Madurai Highway. The project, a collaboration between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation and the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu, is spread across 5.58 lakh square feet with a financial outlay of ₹315 crore. It is expected to be completed in the next 18 months.

K N Arun Nehru, Member of Parliament from Perambalur, remarked, “Accenture move is a gift to the people of Tiruchi, which is known for its manufacturing sector. The entry of IT Major will bolster the service sector in Tiruchi. It will change the profile of the city.”
